West Kids Regional-Freestyle, Pocatello, Id – June 24-25

Congratulations to the Eastside Wrestlers who were able to make it to the Regional Championships this year.  Justin Hoyle, Dylan Badure and Beau Weibe were all first year Novice wrestlers competing against many older kids.  And they all had excellent matches!  Justin was able to place 4^th in Greco Roman and 5^th in Freestyle.  Dylan was only one match away from medaling.  And Beau had the toughest draw in the tournament, wrestling the #1 and #2 Greco place winners first.  He nearly surprised everyone (except his coach) by almost beating the # 2 wrestler.  And Tyler Sutherland captured the 4^th place medal in his first time competing in a National level tournament.  Congratulations Wrestlers!!!

Jr, Cadet, Senior and Woman’s Freestyle Championships – May 14, 2011

Congratulations Eastside Wrestlers!  With our small and mostly inexperienced team, we still took 5 place as a team out of over 70 teams.  And we took Second place as the team with the Most Pins in the Quickest Time.  Also, Sabrina Handlon became a Triple Crown Winner by taking 1^st Place in Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco in the Junior’s 98 lb weight class for this season.  Congratulations Sabrina!!!

Congratulations Eastside Wrestlers!  Once again, nearly everyone placed in Washington’s toughest state championships.  Although we had a small team, we placed 7th out of 70 teams.  We were easy the smallest team to placed in the top ten.

Asics Kids FS/GR National Championships

June 28-30

Orem, UT

Mattie Iwicki Wins the Greco Roman National Championships!   Mattie completed the tournament with only a couple of points scored on him.  It was a dominating performance!!!

Both Mattie Iwicki and Ely Malametz had the Freestyle tournament of their lives, and made it into the Freestyle National Championships.  They both ended up taking 2^nd place, but this was the best they have both done at Freestyle Nationals.  Amazingly, Ely took second in the Nation as only a first year Schoolboy.  He should be favored next year to win it!

West Kids & Cadet Regional Championships

Nearly every Eastside Wrestler who competed in the 2010 Kids Western Regional placed in at least one style.  Congratulations Kids!!
